The most common questions we hear from Restorers are: “What are the Xactimate codes?” and “How do I bill for this process?”
We understand that the how to use a product in this industry is equally as import as how to bill for it. So here are a few ways to do that.
First of all we believe that understanding how this is different is helpful when working with the insurance industry. The OdorKlenz-Air Cartridge is an innovative way to neutralize odors and chemical pollutants. It offers quick restoration of air quality by trapping and destroying them through an “ADSORPTIVE NEUTRALIZATION” process. This is very different to how chemical process like ozone and fogging work which release compounds out into the environment. Safe and green technologies typically, and rightfully, command higher billing rates.
There are currently two different ways this process could be billed by in Xactimate. The first is using code CLN DODNAN, which is a per cubic foot treatment. This is an open line item and we have heard from contractors that have been able to bill in a range of $0.02 to $0.09 per cubic foot, but most are billing around $0.06 per cubic foot treatment. This is more of an all-inclusive, process method of billing in the Xactimate software system and similar to how ozone billed. Since the OdorKlenz-Air technology is a green product and does not cause harm to people, pets, plants, surfaces, etc. it is able to demand a premium price over ozone and thermal fogging processes. This method also has the potential for a greater ROI for the contractor.
The second method is more of a consumable based billing method. This way is often an alternative where the contractor charges the individual parts out (i.e. the cartridge, air scrubber, labor, etc.). In this instance the cartridges have individual listings based on the size of the cartridge(s) used and type of restoration job with cost associated more closely to what the contractor purchases the product for at a retail level. These Xactimate codes can be found below:
